Today was a day I do not want to forget. My favorite five year old was tucked snuggly in the back of my car as I was driving home. I was explaining (note, you explain A LOT of things while in the company of a five year old) that we needed to go to my house so I could fix my hair before going off on the Adventure.
Once my grooming was complete off to the kid museum we went.
We parked in a ramp then stopped at McD's for chicken nuggets and chocolate milk.
To have fun, be sure to ride in a glass elevator.
Be sure to stop on the sky way so a car can drive right under you.
Once at the Kid Museum choose the color of the hook you want to hang your coat on and hang it up. Tuck the McDonald toy in the sleeve of the coat.
Take one floor at a time but don't be afraid to get distracted. No rules about doing it all or finishing anything. There's just so much to do. Spend as much time as you want playing and be sure to take turns with other kids.
When necessary, especially at the ant hill and the earth room, crawl on all fours through all the tunnels that you can fit through. It helps to have someone to do this with because sometimes it is scary. It helps to hang your purse from your neck. Be sure to bring a purse with a handle that will facilitate that.
Once you have visited all four floors it is time to go home. Say good bye to the stuff that hangs from the ceiling because now that you have been there you want to say good bye to the things that hang from the ceiling.
Back through the sky way be sure to let a car drive under you.
Have a snack when you get home.
Take out the manger scene and build a Lego road for Mary and Joseph to go to Bethlehem. Use a Duplo car for Mary if you don't have a donkey. If you have miniature Christmas lights, that is a nice touch on the stable. Once Joseph puts Jesus in the straw it is time to wind up the music box on the back of the stable. That will be the angels singing.
Race downstairs every time you have to put laundry in the washing machine or dryer.
Take a meat grinder out and see if you can grind ice. You can but it is wet and hard to do. Try dry bread cubes from the bag you used for Thanksgiving stuffing. They work great. Then take the grinder all apart and wash it real good with the spray at the sink.
Make some jello and be sure to lick the spoon and get the last drops from the bowl.
Get out Marbleworks and set it up. It's okay if the marbles get stuck and you have to take it apart.
Once daddy calls and it is time to go home; pick up all the toys. Be sure to turn off all the Christmas lights because they can get fire and hot.
Wear your coat backwards, that is fun.
On the way home drive around and look at Christmas lights.
Show off your sticker from the museum and give a kiss good bye. It is okay to have a Cheeze-it in your mouth when you give a kiss.
Now, that is how you have fun.
